The lake and the townsite, centrally located in Alberta, make it easily accessible to the thousands of tourists who flock here each and every day during the summer. The many recreational facilities, including the Wild Rapids Waterslide (the world's largest free-standing slide), four golf courses, go carts, parasailing, swimming, waterskiing, and everything else associated with a major summer resort entertain these holiday seekers and also the students and families who attended the hockey camp for their "Hockey Holiday".

WILD RAPIDS WATERSLIDE

Wild Rapids Waterslide Park, is home of Canada's most exciting free-standing waterslides.

Wild Rapids is five acres of handsome landscaped creeks, bridges, and lush picnic areas on the sandy shore of crystal clear Sylvan Lake. The natural park setting is a very tranquil complement to the fascinating thrill of the waterslide adventure.

Wild Rapids is family fun, the wide variety of slides in the park will provide a unique watersport experience for all members of your family - from the thrillseeking daredevil to the youngest toddler.

Four twisting, turning slides, ranging in length from 320 to 400 feet, make up the massive v-shape structure you can't help but see as you drive along Sylvan Lake's breathtaking lakeshore. for youngsters and senior citizens, small slides are available to provide safe, yet lively recreation. a 12 foot long kiddy slide will allow even the smallest tot to sample the family fun of Wild Rapids.

The Bonzai Screamer will have even the most seasoned watersport enthusiast howling with delight, riders will experience a new thrill - sliding over a 300 foot long water rollercoaster while seated on a foam mat. Achieving speeds up to 40 mph, the rider will freefall over two steep dips and then hydroplane over shallow water until stopped by the braking action of the water. It's two great thrills in one.

The River Ride will duplicate the thrilling sensation of a whitewater river experience - on a inner tube. Seated on the inner tube, riders will take off from a 36 foot high tower and travel through 350 feet of twists and turns featuring a series of waterfalls, passive pools, rapids, and whirlpools. It's great family fun with the added pleasure of 70 degrees F water to make sure the only shock you have on a cool day is the great fun you're having.

For those rainy, not so pleasant day, Wild Rapids will now have two hot tubs for your enjoyment. Now in addition to the popular 32 foot diameter circular hot spa with the inverted cone waterfall, a second tub is planned so you can enjoy a soothing immersion in a tub of 105 degree F water while overlooking beautiful Sylvan Lake. Wild Rapids recommends children under six years be accompanied by a responsible adult while in the hot tubs.

GOLF

The Sylvan Lake area is blessed with four fine golf courses and one exciting par 3 course to serve every type of golfer.

Sylvan Lake Golf & Country Club
This 18 hole grass green course is one of Central Alberta's most popular tracts. This par 72 course boasts a well treed 3041 yd front nine (Par 36) and a 3211 yd back nine (also par 36) for a total of 6252 yards. A new clubhouse and pro shop is the centre of activity for the golf course manager Rod Klatt coordinates all activities, including the Tournament House which facilitates groups of all kinds for any type of gathering. Also on site a fully serviced campground and RV park. Located on the west end of town.

Lakewood Golf Course
Located on the east end of town, this 9 hole grass green course also has a new clubhouse, pro shop, and snack bar. Manager Darcy Carruthers looks after the golf course (par 36) 2610 yards and the driving range. There is also a 600 yard Par 3 pitch and putt course and space for 30 camping units.

Top 'O' the Hill Par 3 Course
Located 2km NE on Highway 20. This course suite any type of golfer wishing to fit in a quick round.

Sylvan Southland Gold Course
Sylvan Lake's newest addition to it's already fine election of courses, Sylvan Southland is a 9 hole grass green Par 3, 3049 yards men's, 2473 yard ladies tract. complete with Driving Range and Campground. This course is located on the junction of Highways 11 and 7891, 1/2 mile south of town limits.

SYLVAN LAKE MARINA

Sylvan Lake Marina provides a select line of new, and used boats for sale. Boat and canoe rentals are also available. Mariners and oarsmen alike will appreciate the launching and docking facilities at the marina.

Fully qualified mechanics are on duty to service your craft as the Marina, where boat stall can be rented for the summer and for winter storage. In addition to marine vessels, Sylvan Lake Marina offers a wide range of sporting goods, accessories and live bait.
